What a Busy Start to the Year!
Week 2 in Tawhai was a busy one! We got our new teacher Mrs Souness and we have been doing swimming, art and athletics. (Gemma)
At the start of having a new teacher we went swimming so we could practice swimming for the swimming race (Penny). In swimming we have been practicing doing lengths, we have practiced doing freestyle and backstroke (Ollie). We have also been coaching each other (Savana). We done swimming, we were teaching because no one was there, we took turns (Megan). With coaching we coached each other for ten minutes and then switched around, we told each other what to do (Madi).
We did silhouette art, and first we took photos of ourselves and then we took another piece of paper and sketched over our photo. We scribbled over the bits that were going to be black (Cate). Then we dyed it and painted it black (Savana).
So we have all been doing athletics. In athletics we have been doing high jump, long jump, sprinting and discus and shot put (Aniska). On Friday we had the sports activator named Rory, he helped us practice high jump, shot up and our running (Jake). When we were doing the sports we got completely soaked because it was pouring down with rain (Kain)!
Tony Dodds came to our school for a visit (Senuri). He had a bike wheel for going up hills and it was very light (Ben). He gave out some free t-shirts and he gave signatures (Cam). With Tony Dodds we played games and he showed us what he does (Senuri).
On the same day that Tony Dodds came we had swimming sports too (Harry). In swimming sports we raced each other (Cosine). Some of the parents came to watch us do the swimming sports (Janindu). At swimming sports when Tony Dodds was doing the race he realised that the people racing in the relay race were actually faster than he thought they were! (Sam) After everyone finished the relay race everyone jumped in and it was like a tsunami (Penny). It was quite tiring but very fun (Gemma)
We made sock puppets for the flower show and we put googly eyes and pom poms, pipe cleaners and feathers (Senuri). We put our art on the walls (Savana). Most of us went home and made things to enter into the flower show from home, some people painted rocks (Ollie).
